PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an accurate adjusting mechanism and to attain accurate reading positioning, by adjusting the scanning start timing so that a reading end of a CCD image pickup device reading the left half and a reading start position of the CCD image pickup device reading the right half are made continuous on a picture. CONSTITUTION:The visual reading field D of the CCD image pickup devices 4, 5 are set with an overlap of c<16mm. (64X2 dots) at the center of an original. At the overlap section (c), the end of actual reading width (d) of the CCD image pickup device 4 reading the left half and the beginning of actual reading width (d) of the CCD image pickup device 5 reading the right half are made continuous so as to read and pick up the continuous 2d width. In the continuous picture reading in the width of 2d, the data pickup is started among the reading data having width D of the CCD image pickup device 4 with a delay by (a) from the scanning start end, the pickup is stopped when the data for (d) is extracted. Further, the data pickup is started with a delay by (b) from the scanning start end in the reading data of width D of the CCD image pickup device 5, the pickup is stopped by picking up the data (d), and (a) and (b) are adjusted in the relation of D-d-a+b=c while observing the picture reproducibility. |
