摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable bi-directional communication by means of a pair of optical fiber communication systems by forming a light receiving element part at the outer surrounding part of a current structure type surface light emitting element having a double hetero structure. CONSTITUTION:A semi-spherical lens 22 is installed at the light emitting part 17 of an element, and an output light is changed into a parallel beam by the adjustment of the lens 22 and a lens system 23, thus being coupled to a fiber 24. The light receiving part 18 is formed at the outer surrounding part of the light emitting part 17, and a metallic film 20 for light shielding is provided therebetween. Therefore, the beam is collected by the lens system 23 at the time of light receiving, but is not completely collected because of no use of the semispherical lens 22, accordingly becomes incident to the light receiving part 18 at the outer surrounding part of the light emitting part 17, and then the bi- directional communication is realized.</p>
