<p>The stapling machine is one of a number arranged side by side to place successive transverse rows of U-shaped staples (2), for interconnecting e.g. two superimposed horizontal plates which are moved step-wise below these machines. Each machine has an automatic feed unit to move packs of aligned staples from a magazine on to a rail (44), which is connected in line with a carrier rail via which each pack reaches the drive-in plunger (29). In the stapling section, each pack on the carrier rail may be engaged at its rear end by laterally swivelable spring fingers on an inverted U-section holder which is spring-loaded towards the delivery point (29) via a spring tape fixed to a rotatable drum. Each pack from the magazine, held in readiness on the feed rail (44), is moved by transport fingers to replenish the stapling section. The fingers take over the action of the spring tape, whilst the holder with its spring fingers is withdrawn.</p> |
