The insert (1) is intended for placing in a heating stove, e.g. to convert an open wood burning stove for burning coke or anthracite. It consists of a mantle (2) in cast iron or similar heat-resistant material which is open at its lower and upper ends (3,10). The lower end may contain a grate (4), rim (5) and bars (6), pref. movable for riddling. The insert may have upwardly diverging walls and may be upwardly extendable by superimposing rings (12). The dia. of the insert preferably equals or exceeds its height.
