1286640 Glass runs HAPPICH GmbH GEB 19 Sept 1969 [13 Nov 1968] 46280/69 Heading E1J A flexible channel for a glass run comprises two resilient, e.g. rubber, U-section strips 2, 3 one viz 3, disposed within the other viz 2, with the adjacent legs 2a, 3a joined at their tips by transverse webs 13 with reduced portions 14 to provide an uninterrupted cavity 4 between the strips 2, 3 so as to floatingly hold the window pane 6. The faces of the inner section 3 closest to the panels are curved convergingly in the vicinity of their connecting base and divergently towards their tips with the convex portions contacting to form a seal with the pane 6. Alternatively, the legs of the inner section 3 may be pleated, like bellows (Fig. 2), or provided with at least one semicylindrical surface forming longitudinal ribs (Fig. 3) to form rib-like surfaces to contact and seal with the pane 6 and all contact surfaces 5 are covered with a layer or coating e.g. of bristles, crimped yarns, fibres or velvet to facilitate the sliding motion of the pane and its sealing. The channel is provided with a metal reinforcement member 10 embedded in the U-section channel and ribs 7 are provided for securing the channel in a longitudinal recess in a window frame rail or sill. |
