Laminates incorporating sheets of stone and of glass include one or more interfacial layers of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). For mfr. of laminates having glass sheet covering one or both faces of one or more layers of natural or reconstituted stone, esp. on the external faces, the lamination process being similar to that for mfr. of laminated glass. - The interlayer(s) of PVB improve the impact resistance of the laminates and protect the stone against deterioration by gaseous or atmospheric pollutants, may also be tinted tomato modify the appearance of the stone. The component layers may be of similar or differing shapes. |
