PURPOSE:To enable production of a member provided with all of lightness, heat resistance and heat insulation characteristics by forming a composite material consisting of fiber and light alloy and having low heat conductivity and coefft. of thermal expansion and a melt sprayed layer of a heat-resistant alloy on the surface of a light alloy member. CONSTITUTION:A heat-resistant alloy 3 such as a 18-8 stainless steel, Ni-Cr alloy or the like is melt sprayed on one side of carbon fiber, aluminum fiber, SiC fiber or metallic fiber of W, stainless steel, etc. and is disposed in a casting mold in such a way that the melt sprayed layer comes into contact with the inside surface of the casting mold, then a molten light alloy such as an Al alloy or the like is cast therein in the stage of developing a lightweight member having heat resistance and heat insulation characteristic to be used as a piston for an internal combustion engine, etc. The molten light alloy infiltrates the fiber inside to form a composite layer 2 and the heat-resistant light alloy material consisting of a melt sprayed heat-resistant light alloy layer 3 of 10mum-5mm. thickness, the composite layer of 2-30mm. thickness consisting of total 20-50% heat-resistant fibers incorporated in the content lower on the body 1 side and higher on the layer 3 side and the light alloy, and the light alloy body 1 is obtd. |
