PURPOSE:To execute a speed control of a magnetic head with high accuracy even in case of a short distance seek by providing a distance dependence type profile generator for setting plural kinds of speed profiles in accordance with whether a seek distance is long or short. CONSTITUTION:A distance dependence type profile generator 9 is provided in order to set plural kinds of speed profiles to a speed profile generator 1 in accordance with whether a seek distance is long or short, by fetching a data of a speed profile corresponding to a seek distance [Xes] from target position information by an operating instruction and present position information of a magnetic head, when a seek operation of the magnetic head is started, and thereafter, the seek operation is executed as on the speed profile which is set in this way, and when the following new seek instruction is inputted, the speed profile corresponding to the seek distance of the magnetic head is set again, and the operation is repeated. |
