PURPOSE:To improve the rust resistance and durability by forming a diagonally vapor-deposited laminated magnetic layer consisting essentially of the 1st diagonally vapor-deposited magnetic layer contg. Co, Ni and O as the principal components and the 2nd diagonally vapor-deposited magnetic layer contg. Co, Ni and Cr or Co, Ni, Cr and O as the principal components. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene terephthalate film of 10mum thickness is used as a nonmagnetic support, and Co80-Ni20 is used as an evaporating material. The evaporating source is heated with 16kW electron beams as a heating means, and the heated material is vapor-deposited at 42 deg. thetamin while feeding oxygen at 250cc/min flow rate to form the 1st diagonally vapor-deposited magnetic layer of about 750Angstrom thickness made of a Co-Ni alloy contg. oxygen. The resulting tape is rewound around a tape feeding roll 6. Co80-Ni20 and Cr are charged into evaporating sources as evaporating materials, heated with 16kW electron beams, and simultaneously vapor-deposited to form the 2nd diagonally vapor-deposited magnetic layer of about 750Angstrom thickness made of a Co-Ni-Cr alloy. |
