PURPOSE:To prepare fine particles industrially and advantageously under mild temperature conditions, by adding polyvinylpyrrolidone to an organic solvent system containing a biodegradable polymer and a physiologically active substance as a core material, and crystallizing polymer at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Fine powder of a core material, e.g. physiologically active substance such as a carcinostatic agent, is dispersed or dissolved in a solution containing a biodegradable aliphatic polyester, e.g. poly-L-lactic acid, in a good solvent, e.g. methylene chloride, and polyvinylpyrrolidone is then added thereto. A liquid fat or oil, e.g. soybean oil, as a poor solvent is added to the resultant dispersion or solution. Fine particles are then deposited and hardened at -20- +50 deg.C, and the continuous phase is removed. The resultant fine particles are washed and dried to give the aimed fine particles.
