PURPOSE:To offer a rare earth metal - transition metal amorphous thin film which has a conventional feature as it is and also is adequate in its curie temperature and coercive force by specifying a range of an atomic ratio which combines Tb and Dy, by an amorphous Tb-Dy-Fe ternary system alloy film having an axis of easy magnetization in the direction vertical to a film surface. CONSTITUTION:In order to provide magnetic anisotropy being enough for directing the magnetization in the direction vertical to a film surface, an amorphous thin film whose thickness is >=100Angstrom is formed on a substrate whose temperature is kept at a room temperature or below, by a spattering method, a vacuum vapor-depositing method. Also, in order to set a curie temperature of this amorphous thin film to 80-130 deg.C and also to set its coercive force to 1,000-3,000 oersteds, composition of Tb, Dy and Fe is set to (TbxDy1-x)yFe1-y and is limited to a range of 0.15<=y<=0.35 and 0<x<1. According to said constitution, write and erasion of recording information can be executed by light of low energy without causing a structure variation due to heat, it is advantageous for making a titled medium small in size, and write can be executed by a bias magnetic field of suitable magnitude, and good stability of recorded information is also obtained. |
