PURPOSE:To increase the weightiness on the density information from a main object in an image screen by removing the density information of the photographic image obtd. from the part where the change from the periphery toward the center of the photographic image is small in the density information of the photographic image. CONSTITUTION:A central area 2 is provided on the basis of the probability that a main object exists on an average in the image 1 of a negative film. The image is scanned successively from the four directions, top, bottom, right and left, by a photoelectric conversion means, and the density information of each image is compared with the density information of the picture element before said image. If a substantial difference is observed between the same, both sets of the density information are adopted and if no difference is observed, the density information of the previous picture element is discarded. The weightiness on the density information from the main object in the image screen is thus increased. |
