[Also in Division B8] In a machine such as a crane, mechanical shovel or trench hoe, having a rotatably mounted platform 14 carrying a boom at one of its ends, there is provided a counterweight 17 for mounting at the other end of the platform and a counterweight mounting mechanism 18 for raising the counterweight into its mounted position and securing it in that position, the mechanism 18 comprising toggle links 75, 76 which are pivotable to cause pivotal movement of a lever 72 to engage and secure the counterweight in the said position The mechanism 18 which is operated by a hydraulic motor 82 is disposed at one side of the platform and is associated with a second such mechanism at the other side of the platform. The lever 72 which is adjustably mounted has a head 74 for engaging a recessed stud 32 adjustably mounted in the counterweight and a boss 45 on the platform 14 engages a recessed member 42. When the counterweight is not engaged by the mechanisms 18 it is supported on bolts 48 and bosses 47. In operation the toggle links 75, 76 are moved to a final over-centre position when the mechanisms 18 engage the counterweight to prevent its inadvertent detachment. |
