The display, e.g. for indicating the vehicle speed, or the oil or water temp., comprises a rotatable drum (1) containing an internal light source and with at least two display windows (3..6) within its cylindrical surface, so that as the drum (1) rotates a light beam scans across a display screen (E) positioned in front of the drum (1). The display screen (E) has a series of display ranges (8..11) marked across its surface, each scanned by the light beam provided by a respective window (3..6), the latter being spaced one after the other along the axis of the drum (1) and also being angularly offset. Pref. the drum (1) is arranged with its central axis running vertically and has four windows (3..6) for scanning a triangular display screen (E) with four speed display ranges (8,9,10,11). The display is simple and economical and allows the display information to be grouped in several sequences. |
