Device for adjusting the length of thread taken up by a knitting loom and/or for correcting tension variations of a thread feeding a textile machine. The device according to the invention comprises a stretcher 3 with two dished parts 17, 18 between which the thread 2 passes, a motor member 4 whose rotation drives the movement of the pressure member of the two dished parts 17, 18, a feeling element 10 over which the thread 2 passes and which moves when the length of thread taken up and/or the tension of the thread varies, and two switches 14, 15 one controlling the setting in rotation of the motor member 4 in one direction and the other the setting in rotation in the other direction. The direction of rotation of the motor member is chosen so that the correlative action of the stretcher 10 corrects the variation in the length of thread taken up and/or the tension which is at the origin of setting off this rotation. <IMAGE>
