The invention concerns equipment of the "sheet (tarpaulin)" type making it possible to protect from heat the passenger compartment of an automobile vehicle exposed to the sun. The cover (tarpaulin) comprises three rectangular pieces of cloth: two of them are held under tension, one on the other 1, by a roller 2. They cover the front part of the passenger compartment. The third piece of cloth 3 is displaced towards the rear in order to entirely cover the passenger compartment while remaining tightly fastened between the other two pieces; the cover (tarpaulin) is stiffened by slats and makes a visor over the front and rear windows. The invention is intended essentially for drivers who have to park in the sun in hot regions. <IMAGE>
