A cable gripper, in particular for household electrical appliances, comprises a body 1 in which is provided a channel 3 making it possible to receive the cable, and a gripping element 2 in the form of a wedge which is appropriate to be fixed to the body with a screw. The body 1 of the cable gripper has an inclined surface with respect to the axis of the channel 3 of the body and on which one face of the wedge can slide, the other face being substantially parallel to the axis of the channel 3 when the gripping element 2 is fixed with the screw to the body of the cable gripper. The gripping element 2 has moreover a slit 9 for the screw which passes through it, this slit having a width which is substantially less than the diameter of the head of the screw.
