PURPOSE:To improve the machining efficiency by allowing a honing stone pressing cylinder to move following a template and bringing said honing stone in contact with a workpiece with almost uniform surface pressure when honing the non-circular peripheral surface of the workpiece. CONSTITUTION:Supporting body 26 which supports honing stone 28 is supported by a tool shaft 5, which makes both vertically reciprocating and rotating movement against a base 2 for mounting a workpiece 3 having a non-circular peripheral surface to be machined, radially movably within the plane passing through the axis of the tool shaft 5, while guide body 31 having followers 33 that move following a template 21 is also provided movably in the same direction as with the supporting body 26. On the other hand, honing-stone pressing cylinder 35 is provided between the guide body 31 and the supporting body 26, preventing a piston rod 38 from being projected caused by the non-circular configuration of the peripheral surface 3a to be machined. Thereby good finishing configuration and accuracy of honing can be provided while the rotating speed of the tool shaft can be increased, improving the machining efficiency. |
