The reducing gas is produced from a combustible solid, pref. dried and finely ground, comprises blowing in a mixt.of gaseous carbon and hot blast, the latter opt. oxygenated. - The products leaving the reactor, the carbon in the gaseous state being ore of these products, have an enthalpy corresp. to a temp. above 3500 deg.C.. The gaseous carbon mfd. by treating of the solid fuel in a reactor using a plasma torch. - Process is more economical than using oil or natural gas as fuel and reduces the need for coking of coal.(0/0)
