A device is proposed which senses rotary movements by using the Sagnac effect. For this purpose, a glass laser tube 6 is provided which generates two laser beams moving in opposition. The anode currents required for this purpose may have only a very small permissible difference. The circuit for regulating the anode currents consists of a linear controller 1 which keeps the current J1 at a constant value. The currents J1 and J2 are sensed via measuring shunts R1, R2, and a control amplifier is used in conjunction with differing currents to generate a signal which is fed to a relative linear controller 2 in order to match the current J2 to the current J1 Matching of the currents to a maximum difference of 1 is achieved by means of this dependent control of the current J2. <IMAGE>
