A flush-mounted installation box for sanitary fittings is described, which consists of a main part to be inserted into a wall installation recess and containing a base body, and of a cover which seals said main part. The cover possesses a bulge, the area of which is smaller than the entire area of the cover. During the interior finishing work on the building in which the installation box is fitted, the tiling of the room is laid partially over the cover so that only the cover bulge protrudes outwards. The cover, which hermetically seals the interior space of the installation box, can therefore not be removed, since the fastening means lie under the tiling. In addition, the installation aperture can be kept smaller, which is desirable for visual reasons. For the final mounting of the individually desired sanitary fittings, the cover bulge is sawn off along the outer face of the tiling in the last phase of the interior finishing work on the building. <IMAGE>
