Process for extruding a foodstuff with the use of microwaves

It is known to extrude foodstuffs at high pressure and relatively high temperature; a high power consumption is necessary for this, and damage to the constituents cannot be avoided. By heating the material prior to the extruder head by means of the microwave, the mechanical stress which has a denaturing action can be reduced, and a variable adaptation to the material and the aim of the product can be achieved.
