PURPOSE:To provide an optional cutting edge form in machining a ball end mill or the like, by providing an adjuster for interlocking units for a turning stage and a twister to adjust the ratio of the conversion of a turn angle into a twist angle. CONSTITUTION:The inclined guide 8 of a first interlocking unit H1 is moved back and forth by the reciprocation of a table G so that a rodlike workpiece held on a work head is turned back and forth by a wire 3 wound around a holder. The reciprocation of the guide 8 is transmitted to a turning stage L through the sliding stage, roller 14 and rotary member 15 of a second interlocking unit H2 so that a tool rest supported on the turning stage is turned around the longitudinal axis of the rodlike workpiece. To adjust the ratio of the conversion of a turn angle into a twist angle through the first and the second interlocking units H1, H2, the nut 17 of the rotary member 15 coupled to the roller 14 is displaced by an adjusting screw to change the lever ratio with an arm 20. An optional cutting edge form is thus obtained in manufacturing a ball end mill or the like. |
