Printed conductors 65 on a circuit board 64 are connected to printed conductors 29 on the underside of a circuit board 28 by an electrical connector comprising a plurality of sockets 2, in cavities 30 of an insulating housing 26 mounted on the board 28, and a plurality of mating pins 44 in an insulating housing 40. As shown in Fig. 4, the socket 2 comprises square section frame portions (4, 6, Fig. 2, not shown), connected by integrally formed inwardly bowed elliptical springs 8, and an off-set U-section post 24 which projects through the board 28 and is soldered to the conductor 29. The socket can be inserted into the cavity 30 in any one of four orientations to give different post grid patterns, and is retained in the cavity with ears 12 on shoulders 36 and a locking lance 22 lodged against a shoulder 38. Mating pins 44 having U-section noses 48 for insertion in the sockets 2 are held in cavities 42 of housing 40, a part of each pin being bent at 56<SP>1</SP> and soldered to a conductor 65 on the circuit board 64 in a slot 62 of the housing 40 which mates with the housing 26 by tongues (76) and grooves (78, Fig. 7, not shown). |
