A sterilization catheter for intrauterine tubal occlusion by means of electrocoagulation comprises, according to Figure 1, a probe (1) with electrode elements (3, 4) and a hollow channel (7). The electrode elements have a spherical or rotation-elliptic cross-section and are preferably arranged one behind the other, with their cross-sections progressively decreasing. A hollow channel (7), which opens into the electrode elements, serves for introducing a medium promoting tubal cicatrization. The sterilization with the catheter requires only a brief period of anaesthesia and is simple to carry out, for example without visual monitoring during the intervention. <IMAGE>
