In an adjusting and measuring device for the adjustment, made by means of a drive shaft, of a facing head of a machine tool, exact positioning of the facing slide 7 and an exact measurement of the position of the facing slide 7 are to be possible. For this purpose, a part of the drive shaft 4, 5, 6 is designed as a threaded spindle 4. A nut 14 guided in a linear manner is mounted free of play on the threaded spindle 4. This nut 14 carries a scanner 20 to 25 of a linear measuring system 26 to 31. <IMAGE>
