Known bars for screening, conveyor or lifting bands of agricultural harvesting machines consist of forgeable steel with forged-on flattenings located at the ends and with at least one further forged-on flattening in the middle bar region, passage holes for fastening the bar to rotating elastic belts being arranged in the region of these flattenings. In order to reinforce the flattening in the middle region, without increasing the forging outlay, it is surrounded by a sleeve bearing positively against it. This sleeve is pushed onto the bar before the forging of the flattenings located at the ends, and only thereafter is the bar deformed in order to produce the flattenings, the sleeve also being deformed at the same time in the middle region of the bar.
