In a device for extracting cartridges (27) and ejecting cases (45) of fired cartridges from the chamber (19) of a handgun, especially a drop-barrel weapon for hunting purposes, having an extractor pin (20, 21), which is supported in the region of the chamber on the barrel (1) such that it can be displaced in a limited manner and has an attachment (25), which engages under the edge (26) of the cartridge base, at its one end facing the base (9) of the breech element (4), and having an operating element (29) which, when the barrel is dropped and hence when the weapon breech is opened, engages on the extractor pin in the sense of pushing it out, the extractor pin consists of two subelements (20, 21) which are arranged essentially coaxially and at a distance from one another, the first of which has the one end with the attachment (25) and the second of which has another end (28) for the engagement of the operating element (29), there being arranged between the two subelements (20, 21) a compression spring (30) which can be placed against the two mutually opposite ends (31, 32) of the two subelements (20, 21) and can be stressed by a relative movement of the two subelements (20, 21) towards one another, in such a manner that, while overcoming the static friction between the case (45) of the fired cartridge and the chamber (19), the compression spring (30) ejects the case (45) abruptly, by means of the subelement (20). <IMAGE>
