The buffer consists of elongated, compact sliding blocks (1) which are rigidly connected by transverse connection blocks (2) and tie-bars (3). The buffer is non-fixedly placed on the roadway or on a bedding on a rail track. The bases of the sliding blocks are bevelled opposite the vehicle approach side to avoid the edges biting into the ground as the blocks slide on vehicle impact. In order to equalise the impact levels a crossbar (8) may be disposed flush at the approach side and this crossbar (8) is reinforced by reinforcement ribs (7). In order to increase the braking force, ramp elements (4) may be fitted at the approach side and/or at the bases of the sliding blocks (1) ribs, grooves or toothed structures may be fitted. The buffer has the advantage of reducing expenditure for the repair of vehicles, buffer and track systems, in reducing the assembly and disassembly expenses when the buffer is used temporarily and in improving work safety. It also requires a relatively small amount of space and absorbs large approach forces. <IMAGE> |
