PURPOSE:To perform surely spot welding by an operation in one direction without requiring skilled technique by generating an arc between a metallic plate to be welded and an electrode bar to melt the member to be welded and pressing this molten part by the electrode bar. CONSTITUTION:When a carbon electrode bar 4 is attached to the tip of a rod and thrusted against a metallic plate 1, and a power source switch is turned on, the electrode bar is short-circuited to the metallic plate 1. compressed air is sent and the rod is retreated by a sliding block. The electrode bar 4 is detached from the metallic plate 1, and an arc is generated between them. A cylinder is released and the rod advances while being restrained by the sliding block, and the tip of the electrode bar 4 projects from the surface of the metallic plate 1 by a distance corresponding to the thickness of the metallic plate 1. When the metallic plate 1 and a part of metallic member 2 under the metallic plate 1 are melted, the electrode bar 4 comes into contact with the molten part and presses it. Then, a power source is turned off and the compressed air is sent into the cylinder, and restraint of the rod by the sliding block is released. |
