The roof-covering or wall-lining elements (10) have, in a longitudinal groove (15) of their edge bead (13), a sealing strip (16) which seals off to the outside the space between the upright longitudinal-edge flanges (11, 18) of two adjacent elements (10, 10'). The elements (10, 10') are produced in situ by means of a roll-deforming device (38) which is transportably arranged in a container (36). The sealing strips (16) are rolled into the longitudinal groove (15) of the elements during production of the elements (10, 10') in the roll-deforming device.
