A service water heater and storage tank is described, with a metal storage container for water to be heated and a metal throughflow pipe for a heat transfer medium. The throughflow pipe is arranged on the external surface of the container in a large number of sections lying next to one another. The service water heater and storage tank has the particular advantage that the calcification of the heat exchange surface is prevented by means of heating from outside.
