The invention relates to a structural member which comprises a frame and a lining of the frame interior. Known structural members of this type previously had to be made and fitted together to order, which made their production more expensive and also undesirably increased the amount of work involved. There were therefore efforts to obtain a universal structural member which can be produced more simply and inexpensively than the known members. This is achieved by the fact that the lining of the frame is a shrunk plastic film enclosing the frame crossbeams, embodiments of the invention also being distinguished by the fact that the frame has transverse and longitudinal struts, and that the inside of the film is provided with a flexible filling which is under compressive prestressing.
