PURPOSE:To generate hydroelectric power, by discharging seawater, in the inside of a seawater pond, into the sea outside the pond and utilizing a head between the seawaters inside and outside said pond in accordance with a demand of electric power. CONSTITUTION:Seawater in the inside of a seawater pond, surrounded by land and a dam constructed from the sea bottom to a height higher than the surface of the sea, is discharged into the sea in the outside by using energy of surplus electric power or the like, and hydroelectric power is generated by utilizing a head between the seawaters inside and outside said pond in accoreance with a demand of electric power. In this case, an inlet with a narrow entrance and a deep inlet or the like are especially suitable for the pond from the point of view in which a large amount of pumping up water is obtained even for a small size of the dam to be constructed. |
