An antiskid surface treatment for use on scaffolding components

Extruded metal tubing to be used as ladder rungs or horizontal members which also serve as footholds in a scaffolding system is provided with an anti-skid surface by forming longitudinal projections during the extrusion process and then subjecting the tubing to a knurling operation to form indentations in apex portions only of the projections.
