PURPOSE:To readily obtain the titled pharmaceutical, by applying isosorbide dinitrate to a granular carrier and spray coating the resultant composition with a specific spray solution. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder consisting of isosorbide dinitrate and an excipient, e.g. lactose, etc., in small portions is added to a granular carrier e.g. white sugar, having 14-42 mesh grain size while spraying an aqueous solution of a binder, e.g. hydroxypropyl cellulose, etc., to give a composition. In the process, the ratio of the isosorbide dinitrate in the mixed powder is 20-50wt%. The above-mentioned composition is then spray coated with a spray solution obtained by mixing and dissolving ethyl cellulose, preferably having 44-51% ethoxy group content in macrogol having 2,600-9,300 average molecular weight at 40:60-60:40 ratio to afford the aimed sustained release pharmaceutical of the isosorbide dinitrate. EFFECT:The preparation operation can be readily as well as quickly carried out.
