PURPOSE:To binary-code a picture signal without the influence of the base color of an original by changing a threshold automatically in each original in accordanace with the density of the base color of the original. CONSTITUTION:A signal outputted from an image pickup element 12 is converted by an A/D converting part 13 and inputted to a binary coding part 14. A binary coding part 14 binary-codes the 1st input 30 obtained after setting up an original in accordance with the threshold from a white original threshold generating part 16, but the output 31 is interrupted and is not inputted to a picture display device. Simultaneously, an original base color density discriminating part 15 applies the density of the original base color to an adder 17 on the basis of the 1st input 30. The adder 17 adopts two thresholds as the optimum threshold of the set up original and inputs the threshold to the binary coding part 14 again. The binary coding part 14 binary-codes the 2nd input 30 obtained after setting the original in accordacne with the optimum threshold. The output 31 is inputted to the picture display device. |
