PURPOSE:To keep the temperature of cooling water in constant by a method wherein the number of sets of driving fans is controlled by detecting the wet- bulb temperature of atmosphere induced by the fan and the temperature of the cooling water at the cooling water suction port of the device to be cooled. CONSTITUTION:A cooling tower is designed so that it is equipped with five sets of fans 6 and capable of obtaining a necessary cooling temperature by the total number of sets of driving fans in case the operating load of a plant is 100% and the wet-bulb temperature of the atmosphere is maximum. When the wet- bulb temperature of the atmosphere is reduced while full sets of the fans are being operated, a control units 23 operates the necessary number of sets of the driving fans from the output of the atmosphere wet-bulb temperature detector 20 and a temperature characteristic memorized previously and stops the motors 7 of the fans which are unnecessary for cooling, therefore, the desired temperature of the cooling water may be secured. |
