PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound in high quality with preventing adhesion of crystal to the face of an inner wall of a reactor, by reacting phenol with acetone in the presence of an acidic catalyst while the raw materials are jetted from a nozzle set at the top of the level of the liquid phase of the reactor to the inner wall of the reactor. CONSTITUTION:In preparing the titled adduct by reacting phenol with acetone in the presence of a soluble acidic catalyst to form a slurry reaction mixture containing crystal of the titled adduct, the reaction is carried out while the raw materials to be fed to the reactor are at least partially jetted from a nozzle set at the top of the liquid level of the reactor to the inner wall of the reactor. The ratio of the raw materials while jetted from the nozzle is preferably 0.4-1, and preferably the feed raw materials by jetting are supplied in such a way that they are distributed to the whole face of the inner wall of the reactor. Consequently, the contact state of the raw materials is improved, and the reaction rate is raised.
