PURPOSE:To collate a seal impression accurately by allowing the center of a stamped seal impression to coincide with the center of a photoelectric converting part and rotating the photoelectric converting part and digitizing the picture of the seal impression in each partial area and operating the sum of digitized results and comparing it with preliminarily registered seal impression data. CONSTITUTION:A sealed sheet 1 of paper is set on an XY table 2. The seal impression pattern is scanned with a photoelectric converting part 3 having a line image sensor of about 2k bits, and the XY table is moved by the output of a positioning part 4 to attain the center of the seal impression, and the center of the seal impression is allowed to coincide with the center of the converting part 3. Next, the converting part 3 is rotated at a certain angle, and the picture of the seal impression is sampled, and sampled values are stored in an accumulated value generating register 5 while operating the sum of them for every concentric circle radius. After the converting part 3 is rotated once, data in the register 5 is transferred to a collating seal impression data storage part 6. Data in this storage part 6 is compared and collated with data in a registered seal impression data storage part 8. |
