PURPOSE:To constitute a new system having large capacity, which is capable of utilizing a software property on a flexible disk, accumulated by an old computer system, etc. as it is by varying the erasion width by switching an erasion driving circuit, also switching a necessary circuit, and securing the interchangeability of a bi-directional data of write and read with respect to a recording system of two kinds of more of track widths. CONSTITUTION:An electric signal showing high track density, which is detected by a detector 10 and is discriminated by a medium discriminating circuit 101 is sent to a disk controller involved in a host computer through a signal connector 13, and also is supplied to an erasing head current driving circuit 71, a recording and reproducing circuit 72, a step-motor driving circuit 51, etc. The erasing head current driving circuit 71 makes a current flow to both erasion A and erasion B at the time of recording, in case of ''1'' signal when a track density switching signal is, for instance, 48TPI, both an erasing gap 24a and 24b are energized, and an old signal is erased extending over wide width corresponding to 48TPI. |
