<p>PURPOSE:To enable to generate a predetermined steering angle function necessary for rear wheel steering by a structure wherein only a rear wheel steering gear box with a simple structure is added to a part of a front wheel steering mechanism by engaging a pinion integral with an offset arm with an idler shaft. CONSTITUTION:The tip of a pitman arm 4 is pivotally connected to the right end of a connecting rod 5, to the left end of which the tip of an idler arm 6 is also pivotally connected. When a steering wheel is operated for steering, the idler arm 6 horizontally rocks rightward and leftward while being kept im parallel to the pitman arm 4, resulting in rotating a pinion gear 32, which is in mesh with a sector gear 31 integrally formed with the idler shaft 7 in order to cause the rotation of the offset arm 34 integrally formed with the gear 32. Because of the pivoting motion of the offset arm 34, the rear wheels not shown are controlled in the predetermined steering angle function, resulting in enabling to steer the rear wheels in the direction same as or opposite to the direction of the front wheels in accordance with the magnitude of the steering operation.</p> |
