PURPOSE:To improve accuracy of a judgment of a use limit by providing a timer means in cartridge with a storage means for the actual amount of use together with a timer means which starts at the manufacture point of the cartridge. CONSTITUTION:When copying operation is started while the cartridge 20 is attached to a main device body 1, a CPU31 judges whether the cartridge 20 is within the range of enduration from the manufacture point of the cartridge 20 by a signal from a time measuring circuit before generating a series of sequence signals for the copying operation. When it is not within the range, a lamp 38 for indicating the need for replacement is turned on. When the cartridge 20 is within the range, the CPU31 judges whether the actual used amount exceeds the limit or not by a signal from a storage circuit 29. When it exceeds the limit, a lamp 39 indicating the need for the replacement is turned on. Thus, the usable limit of the cartridge is judged accurately. |
