Liquid crystal dielectric substances for electrooptical indicating elements consist of 3 - 50 wt.% of partially hydrogenated oligo-1,4-phenylene compounds of formula (I). n=1 or 2, A and B = same or not, trans-4-alkylcyclohexyl or 4-al-kylcyclohex-1-enyl containing less than 10 carbon atoms. When n=2 in (I), the compound has the clearing point of >200≦̸C and can be used for liquid crystal dielectric substances.
