PURPOSE:To enable continuous mass production of a quickly cooled metal by detaching a take-up reel for a ribbon produced by a quick roll cooling method from a cooling roll when the ribbon is taken up in a specified amt. and taking up the ribbon on a replacement reel. CONSTITUTION:When an initial take-up reel 2 is wound thereon with a ribbon 4 in a specified amt., the roll is detached from a main cooling roll 1, and a fresh replacement reel 3 is positioned between the rolls 1 and 2. The reel is rotated synchronously so as to have the peripheral speed equal to the moving speed of the ribbon 4, then the ribbon is cut instantaneously and is wound on the reel 3. The flow of gas, for example, air, is used in winding the ribbon on the reel 3. |
