The absorption refrigeration system has a generator(22) that includes a primary heat exchanger(48) operatively connected to a low temp. energy source, and includes an auxiliary heat exchanger(52) operatively connected to a high temp. energy source. Controls are provided so that energy is supplied to the generator from the high temp. energy source only after energy is extracted from the low temp. energy source only after energy is extracted from the low temp. energy source and additional energy is required by the system. A condenser system is provided that operates to condense refrigerant vapor regardless of the distribution of the energy contribution between the high and low energy sources.
