Equipment for introducing hot gas into a gas pipe comprises a side nozzle fixed to the pipe and a plasma furnace for producing the hot gas. The walls of the pipe and/or the nozzle, which are opt. refractory lined, are protected against excessive heating. - Esp. useful for injection of superheated reducing gas into the hot blast being fed to blast furnace tuyeres. The plasma furnace may be fitted at least partially within the nozzle, esp. the hot end of the furnace. The length of that part of the furnace fitted in the nozzle is pref. greater than the nozzle length so that the furnace projects into the gas pipe. The plasma furnace, esp. its hot end, is pref. provided with a cooling circuit.(0/0)
