An electrochemical generator comprising polypyrrole as active electrode material. This generator contains a solid electrolyte comprising either a mixture of at least one metal salt and of a compound chosen from the group consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) and its derivatives, poly(propylene oxide) and its derivatives, poly(methyl glycidyl ether) and its derivatives, organic polyelectrolytes, or a material chosen from the group of conductive amorphous glasses using Li<+> and Na<+> ions and ss alumina. Such a generator can be employed as a battery.
