The invention relates to environmental protection. The apparatus forming the subject of the invention is of the type comprising a receptacle receiving the solution to be treated and in which a soluble metal anode and a cathode made of insoluble material are placed, and is characterised in that the receptacle for the solution to be treated which is employed is a rotary drum 1 which has an entry opening 3 for introducing into its cavity the solution to be treated and metallic waste employed as soluble anode and situated in continuous contact with the cathode which consists of a material whose potential is higher than that of the anode, and an outlet opening 4 for discharging the treated solution and the deposit formed. The invention can be employed with great success for removing ions of heavy, nonferrous and noble metals from aqueous media. <IMAGE>
