[Also in Division D1] Novel compounds of Formula (I): where R represents C 11 -C 23 alkyl optionally unsaturated or with a branched chain, and where n=2-6 and y=0-4 (n, y are whole numbers) are prepared by reacting glycidyl esters of higher aliphatic carboxylic acids, e.g. those natural or synthetic fatty acids of 12-24 carbon atoms, with a di- or poly-amine of 2-6 nitrogen atoms, which nitrogen atoms are linked by 2-6 carbon atoms. The compounds are useful as softeners for textile materials containing cellulose fibres or as antistatic agents for synthetic fibres (see Division D1).
